Hey,
I’m Maya Thompson, and I’m a high school English teacher somewhere in the great state of Ohio. (I’m not being cagey—I just don’t need my students finding this blog and reading my unfiltered thoughts about lesson planning. Love you guys. Please do the assigned readings.)
I started teaching this year after getting my degree in English Literature and realizing that my options were “grad school,” “cry,” or “attempt to make teenagers care about dead authors.” I chose option three, and honestly? Best decision I ever made. Most days.
This blog is where I share the stuff I’m learning along the way—lesson ideas that actually worked, resources I’ve found helpful, and the occasional rant about why no one warned me how much of this job is just… paperwork. I also write about the books I’m teaching (and the books I’m reading for fun, when I remember what “fun” is).
